Taunton Door & Gate

Characters

A front door or gate is the division between private and public space plus it's the greeting you offer the world. The design can make or break the entire look of a home, public building, office, shop or garden. So what are Taunton's welcoming entrances to this design facet? Which ones stand out for you? Here we showcase some of the beautiful, strange, functional and even lost entrance treasures of our local town and district.

What they say: The front door allows for a personal statement, perhaps more than anywhere else on a house or building. It's an easy way to give pleasure to passers by and allows for imagination and creativity. As the focal point, entry doors provide a way to a large range of colors and styles available. But its more than just about the door itself. It can be the door frame, the fixtures and fittings. Doors can also be famous, used in association with those that live or work there. Look at 10 Downing Street or Wormwood Scrubs Prison.

Nominate Your Favorite: Is there an entrance you see often and always look at with appreciation. Then please let us know by writing to us at info@tauntoncivic.org.uk
